1879 311 James addresses his Epistle to the twelve tribes of Israel; but at the same time that he owns the people beloved because of the fathers, he places himself on the ground of faith: "James a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting."
